Stronger Together: Community Volunteers Support 8th Grade Mock Interviews |
by Mrs. McCormick
Our 8th-grade students did an outstanding job participating in mock interviews this past Friday. During this experience, students practiced essential life and career skills, including professional posture, maintaining eye contact, and effective communication. They also worked on answering personal interview questions connected to key employability skills such as time management and conflict resolution.
We want to extend a huge thank you to our local business partners who generously gave their time to support our students. Their willingness to volunteer created an authentic, meaningful experience that allowed students to practice and strengthen these important real-world skills. |

Show Up, Stay Ready, Succeed |
Even as students mature and gain greater independence, families remain pivotal in ensuring continued access to educational opportunities and in understanding the critical role regular attendance plays in academic success and future career readiness. Whether absences are excused or unexcused, all missed instructional time adds up and can impact student learning. Families can also serve as strong advocates for additional resources and support to help students stay engaged and on track, particularly when consistent in-person attendance presents challenges.
Let’s work together to ensure our students are safely here, engaged, and ready to succeed, even during challenging winter conditions. For more information: Click HERE - Stay in the Game Link Click HERE -School Link Click HERE for the latest LMS student attendance % for 25-26. |
Through the Student Lens: A Student Perspective |
Our students offer fresh perspectives and creativity that enrich our school community. Each week, we pose a fun, thought-provoking question to get a glimpse of the world through their eyes. The questions are brought to us by students and answered by students, making it a truly student-driven experience. It's a wonderful way to spark conversation and amplify their voices.
This week's Questions: What is the highlight of your day, and why? Caiya A. - My highlight of the day is 8th period gym because I have lots of friends in that class, and it's a super fun class. We are also playing volleyball, which I love, so it's even better.
Alyssa C. - I would say the highlight of my day is towards the end, like 8th or 9th period, because in my 8th period, I have math, and I like my teacher, and then in my 9th period, I have choir with all my friends, and I have fun there.
Haliey W. - The highlight of my school day is recess. I love having gym recess on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays because I have Mrs. Davis for it. I think that with the other classes that come in the gym with us, recess is a good brain break from my classes all day. I also really like intervention because I can talk to my friends while doing my work and learning.
Giuliana S. - My favorite part of the day is 8th period because I have my whole friend group there, and I love my teacher. It is always so fun. McKenzie B. - My favorite part of the school day is going home and being in recess. I like to hang out with my friends and be in my home in bed.
Juniper M. - I believe the highlight of my day is my career exploration class. I enjoy learning about different careers I can have when I grow up. I always have fun in that class, and I enjoy the amount of group assignments we get to do. Yuina K. - The highlight of my school day is getting to see my friends because I enjoy the socializing aspect.
Lucy D. - The highlight of my school day is getting to see my friends because I enjoy the socializing aspect.
Charlie C. - The highlight of my school day is lunch. I love lunch because of my lunch table. I have the funniest, most welcoming, and, bottom line, the greatest people ever to sit with. We are such a community, bringing food for each other and having a different fun thing to do each week. We laugh way too much and hard every day, making all the other tables look at us, and it is the best. We talk about everything and nothing at the same time, and it is always chaos in the worst and best ways possible. This is the highlight of my day ENTIRELY.

As winter weather brings snow and colder temperatures, please remind students to practice snow safety. Dress appropriately for the weather, including warm coats, hats, gloves, and sturdy footwear. Walk carefully on icy or snow-covered surfaces to prevent slips and falls, and avoid throwing snow or ice, as it can cause serious injuries. Staying aware of surroundings and following school safety guidelines helps keep everyone safe and healthy during snowy conditions. |
Healthy Habits for Chilly Days |
With the very cold weather we are experiencing, please make sure your students are dressed appropriately each day (coat, hat, gloves, etc.).
If you are unsure whether your student should stay home, please feel free to call the nurse in your student’s building—we are happy to help. Also, if your phone number has changed, please call the office or update it in Final Forms so we can update our records. In case of an emergency, it is very important that we are able to reach you.
As we head into the colder months, supporting your child’s health is more important than ever. Encourage your student to eat healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and foods rich in vitamin C, to help keep colds and illnesses at bay. Proper nutrition, along with plenty of sleep and handwashing, can make a big difference in keeping students healthy.
Lastly, please remember to send an extra set of clothing to keep in your student’s locker or bookbag. Accidents, spills, and illness can happen, and having extra clothes available helps your student return to class quickly without missing valuable instructional time. |

Raider Way Pep Rally Brings Energy, Pride, and Recognition |
London Middle School was buzzing with excitement as students and staff came together for our Raider Way Pep Rally and Student Recognition Assembly on Friday, February 6. The afternoon was a powerful reminder of what makes Raider Nation special—school spirit, student leadership, and celebrating one another’s success!
The rally kicked off with a warm welcome and opportunities for students to stand and be recognized for their achievements. Highlights included Students of the Month for December and January, recognition of students earning perfect attendance for the first semester, and celebration of the 7th Grade Attendance Challenge winners for second quarter.
Athletics also took center stage as we proudly recognized all Red Raider athletes. Students stood by team as we honored our wrestlers, boys and girls basketball teams (7th and 8th grade), and cheerleaders, applauding their dedication, teamwork, and school pride.
School spirit was on full display during the grade-level Balloon Simon Says challenge, followed by chants and the awarding of the Spirit Stick, led by our cheerleaders and Officer Haddox. A special shoutout goes to our Quarter 3 Coffee Bean recipients, students who consistently demonstrate leadership, kindness, and responsibility:
8th Grade: Cooper Meinke, Carlie Barcus 7th Grade: Mekenzie Freeman, Ayden McGonigle 6th Grade: Leia Goubeaux, Daniel McCafferty We are proud of these students for setting the standard and being positive role models for their peers.
Thank you to our staff, cheerleaders, and students for making this pep rally a success. Moments like these strengthen our school community and remind us why it’s a great day to be a Red Raider! |
