Principal Message

Dear LHS Families,

Congratulations to our Regional Runner-Up Football Team for a great season! With the end of the football season, winter season is already upon us.

This week is a short week as we enter Thanksgiving Break. Upon our return from break, we have make-up state testing to start off the month. After a few more weeks of instruction, we will be entering our time for exams.

Please also Save A Date between December 11-13, to come see "A Texas Carol" put on by our students in the Joyce Hildebrand Auditorium. Information about the show is listed below.

The counselors will be asking students for information regarding driver's licenses; CPR certifications done for lifeguarding, babysitting or other Red Cross approved; and other certifications they may have received for training at their work place. These items can assist students in showing their readiness and can qualify for the Industry Credential seal.

Here’s to a great week!

Ryan Rismiller
Principal, London High School
Go Red Raiders!

The Dinkel family arrives at Mee-Maw Jane’s East Texas ranch for what might be her last Christmas. When the first two grandchildren arrive, they discover that Mee-Maw is already gone! How to keep that fact (and her body) from a family on the edge and salvage what remains of Christmas? A Texas Carol is a hysterical and heart-warming take on all things Christmas and all things Texas! December 11-13, 2025 at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $10 adults and $8 students, cash sales at the door.

Driver's Education

Schwartz Driving School has opened a location in London. It is located at 167 West High Street. They have also provided vouchers to the school which gives students FREE classroom instruction. The driver's training is at a reduced rate through the voucher. These vouchers can be picked up from Mr. Rismiller. Families will need to call Schwartz Driving School at 614-882-4235 to enroll.

Transportation

For the safety of all students, families, and community members, please remember not to approach a school bus unless directed by the driver or school staff.

School buses make frequent stops, and students may be walking nearby. Approaching a bus unexpectedly can create dangerous situations for both pedestrians and drivers.

Please keep these important safety guidelines in mind:

• Stay back until the bus has come to a complete stop and the doors open.
• Never try to pick up items dropped near a bus—alert the driver instead.
• Avoid walking or standing in the “danger zone,” which includes the areas directly in front of, behind, or close to the sides of the bus.
• Always follow the bus driver’s signals and instructions.

Thank you for helping keep our students and community safe.

Sincerely,

Stay In the Game

London City Schools prioritizes consistent attendance to support strong academic and social development. We encourage all students to “Stay in the Game” by being present and ready to learn each day. Remember, excused and unexcused absences both add up and can impact student progress.

Quality sleep is also essential for children’s growth and success in school. Watch for these signs that your child may not be getting enough rest:

• Difficulty concentrating or increased forgetfulness
• Frequent headaches
• Trouble waking up in the morning
• Increased irritability or difficulty managing emotions

Supporting healthy sleep habits and regular attendance helps students thrive. Let’s work together to ensure every child has the best opportunity to learn and succeed.

Safety

Parents, please take a moment to remind your child about the importance of never accepting food from strangers. While a treat might seem harmless, it’s always safest to say no if it’s offered by someone they don’t know. Encourage your child to politely decline any food given without your knowledge or consent. Following this simple rule helps keep all of our students safe and protected.

Winter Weather & Health Reminders
As the weather gets colder, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately. Students are outside for both bus stops and recess, so be sure they have a warm coat, socks, and proper footwear each day.

Medication at School
If your child requires medication during the school day, a licensed prescriber’s order is required—this includes cough drops and topical ointments.

Please remember:

  • Students should not transport medication to school unless it is an inhaler, diabetic supplies, or an EpiPen.

  • All other medications must be brought in by a parent or guardian.

Cold & Flu Season Guidelines
With cold and flu season upon us, please keep your child home if they are experiencing:

  • Vomiting or diarrhea

  • A fever

  • A persistent cough that would be disruptive in class

To help avoid illness, please remind your child to wash their hands frequently.

Thank you for helping us keep our students healthy and safe this winter!

London Stuns Jackson with Last-Second Touchdown, Advances to Regional Final

Created by: Brylee Huff and Jacey Peters

LONDON, OH — In one of the most dramatic finishes, the London Red Raiders punched their ticket to the Regional Final with a thrilling 28–24 comeback victory over Jackson High School on Friday, October 14. A packed crowd at Bowlus Field witnessed a roller-coaster playoff battle that came down to the final 40 seconds — and the steady arm of quarterback Blake Reay.

London opened the night strong, striking on its first possession when Reay connected with Kyler Russell for a touchdown to put the Raiders up early. Jackson answered through the air, and after one quarter the teams remained deadlocked at 7–7.

The second quarter became a chess match. London locked down Jackson’s rushing attack, but the Ironmen continued to find yardage in the passing game. Reay delivered his second touchdown pass of the half, this time to McNeal, but Jackson countered with a scoring strike of their own. At halftime, nothing separated the two sides with a score of 14–14, setting up a tense playoff finish.

Jackson opened the second half with a grinding eight-minute drive, but London’s defense held firm in the red zone, forcing a field goal that gave Jackson a 17–14 edge. On the ensuing kickoff, momentum quickly swung back to the home sideline as Traivon Howard electrified the stadium with a stunning return “to the house,” flipping the score to 21–17 London heading into the fourth quarter.

Jackson regained the lead midway through the final period, punching in a touchdown to move ahead 24–21. With their season suddenly on the line, the Red Raiders took the field for one final drive.

London marched down to the Jackson 20-yard line, but found itself staring at 4th-and-8 with just 40 seconds remaining. The crowd rose to its feet as Reay dropped back, surveyed the defense, and fired a strike to McNeal in the end zone — a clutch touchdown that will be remembered for years. The Red Raiders reclaimed the lead 28–24, and the defense sealed the victory moments later.

With the win, London advances to the Regional Final, where they will face Tippecanoe High School on Friday, October 21 at 7 p.m. The game will be held at Skyhawk Stadium in Fairborn (1523 Commerce Center Blvd, Fairborn, Ohio).

The Red Raiders move on with momentum, resilience, and the confidence of a team that has stared down pressure — and delivered when it mattered most.
