Principal Message

Dear LHS Families,

The end of October is in sight. It's been an exciting time to be a Red Raider! Cameron Carn qualified for the State Cross Country Meet, The Pride of London Marching Band earned a Superior Rating at the Ohio Music Education Association State Competition, the Lady Red Raider Volleyball Team is District Champions and compete in the Regional Semifinals this week, and the London Red Raider Football Team claimed the Kenton Trail CBC Title. With the change in the OHSAA Football playoffs, the team has earned a first-round bye and will be in action again on November 7.

  • Volleyball at Pickerington North- October 30

  • Boys Cross Country at The Fortress- November 1

  • Girls Cross Country at The Fortress- November 1

  • Football- Home- November 7

The counselors will be asking students for information regarding driver's licenses; CPR certifications done for lifeguarding, babysitting or other Red Cross approved; and other certifications they may have received for training at their work place. These items can assist students in showing their readiness and can qualify for the Industry Credential seal.

Transportation

At London City Schools, student safety is always our top priority—especially when it comes to bus transportation. Riding the bus is a privilege, and by working together, we can make every trip safe and enjoyable for all students.

Key Bus Safety Rules

To help reinforce safe habits, please remind your child about these important expectations:

  1. Stay Seated While the Bus Is Moving
Children should remain in their seats to avoid injury and to keep the driver’s focus on the road.

  2. Use a Quiet Voice
Talking is allowed, but loud noises can distract the driver. Encourage your child to use a calm, quiet voice.

  3. Keep the Bus Clean
Trash and clutter create safety hazards. Students are expected to respect the bus environment and pick up after themselves.

  4. No Eating, Drinking, or Gum
Food and drinks can cause spills, choking risks, or sticky messes. These items are not permitted during bus rides.

  5. Always Listen to the Bus Driver
The driver’s instructions are for the safety of all passengers. Reinforcing respect for this authority helps ensure a smooth ride.

Sincerely,

Stay In the Game

Attending school regularly establishes a sense of routine and responsibility for your child. This consistency helps build confidence and a strong work ethic, setting them up for future success. Missing even just one or two days of school each month — whether excused or unexcused — can add up quickly and make it harder for students to stay on track. Good attendance is more than just being present; it’s a vital stepping stone toward a successful educational experience and future career.

Safety

Knowing key contact information is an important part of being prepared for an emergency.
Make sure you have your parent or guardian’s full name, phone number, and home address memorized, along with a nearby landmark to help first responders find your location if needed. You should also know a backup contact—such as a grandparent, aunt, uncle, or close family friend—who can be reached if your parents can’t be contacted.

Take a few minutes to review this information regularly, and store it safely in your phone or wallet. Being ready with this information can make a big difference in an emergency.

Winter Weather & Health Reminders
As the weather gets colder, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately. Students are outside for both bus stops and recess, so be sure they have a warm coat, socks, and proper footwear each day.

Medication at School
If your child requires medication during the school day, a licensed prescriber’s order is required—this includes cough drops and topical ointments.

Please remember:

  • Students should not transport medication to school unless it is an inhaler, diabetic supplies, or an EpiPen.

  • All other medications must be brought in by a parent or guardian.

Cold & Flu Season Guidelines
With cold and flu season upon us, please keep your child home if they are experiencing:

  • Vomiting or diarrhea

  • A fever

  • A persistent cough that would be disruptive in class

To help avoid illness, please remind your child to wash their hands frequently.

Thank you for helping us keep our students healthy and safe this winter!
