Principal Message

Dear LHS Families,

The calendar now turns to December. We have started the winter sports season. Our student's have also been hard at work to put on "A Texas Carol." This will be December 11-13 in the Joyce Hildebrand Auditorium.

We are down to the last three weeks of the first semester. The third week being mostly exams for our students as we end the term. Please be aware of your student's attendance.

The counselors will be asking students for information regarding driver's licenses; CPR certifications done for lifeguarding, babysitting or other Red Cross approved; and other certifications they may have received for training at their work place. These items can assist students in showing their readiness and can qualify for the Industry Credential seal.

Here’s to a great week!

Ryan Rismiller
Principal, London High School

A Texas Carol is a hysterical and heart-warming take on all things Christmas and all things Texas! December 11-13, 2025 at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $10 adults and $8 students, cash sales at the door.

First Semester Exams December 16-19

Driver's Education

Schwartz Driving School has opened a location in London. It is located at 167 West High Street. They have also provided vouchers to the school which gives students FREE classroom instruction. The driver's training is at a reduced rate through the voucher. These vouchers can be picked up from Mr. Rismiller. Families will need to call Schwartz Driving School at 614-882-4235 to enroll.

Transportation

Student safety is our highest priority. As colder weather approaches, we want to remind families and students of an important transportation safety guideline: blankets are not permitted on school buses.

While we understand the desire to stay warm during morning and afternoon routes, blankets can create several safety concerns, including:

-Tripping or entanglement hazards when entering, exiting, or moving on the bus
-Increased risk during emergency evacuations, when every second counts
-Difficulty for drivers to clearly see students and ensure safe behavior

To help keep all riders safe, we ask that students dress warmly in coats, hats, and gloves instead of bringing blankets.

Our drivers and staff are committed to maintaining a safe environment on every route, and we appreciate your partnership in following transportation safety guidelines. If you have questions about this expectation, please contact the Transportation Department.

Thank you for helping us keep our buses safe for all students.

Sincerely,
London City Schools Transportation Department

Stay In the Game

Consistent school attendance is the foundation for student success. Even a few missed days each month can have a lasting impact on learning and overall growth. In Ohio, 30% of students miss nearly 20 days of school each year — and it’s important to remember that excused and unexcused absences both add up. Research shows that missing just two days a month, for any reason, can cause students to fall behind in essential academic skills and social development.

Safety

Many young people turn to vaping in an attempt to cope with stress or anxiety, but it often has the opposite effect. Vaping can actually intensify mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. Beyond these risks, it also carries serious physical health consequences. Talk with your student about the importance of staying away from vaping and how making healthy choices now can safeguard both their mental and physical well-being.

Nurse news

As we move into the colder months, we want to remind families of a few important health and wellness tips to help keep students comfortable and prepared throughout the school day. With temperatures dropping, please be sure your child comes to school dressed for the weather. Warm jackets, hats, and gloves are essential for both morning bus stops and outdoor recess. Students go outside as long as conditions are safe, and having appropriate cold-weather clothing helps them stay warm, healthy, and able to enjoy their time outdoors.

We also encourage families to send a complete change of clothing in their child’s backpack. Even older students experience unexpected spills, messy lunches, and occasional wipeouts at recess. Having an extra outfit available at school allows students to return to learning quickly without requiring parents to interrupt their day to bring in clothing.

There are many illnesses circulating right now, and we appreciate families continuing to monitor their child’s health. If you have any questions about whether your student should attend school or need guidance on symptoms, please reach out to the building nurse. Thank you for your help in keeping our school community healthy, warm, and ready to learn this winter season.

Raiders Battle in Playoffs as Winter Teams Launch With Big Wins

Created by: Brylee Huff and Jacey Peters

Football: Raiders Battle in the Regional Final — Friday, Nov. 21

Regional Championship – Fairborn, Ohio

On a rainy Friday night in Fairborn, the London Red Raiders fought through adversity but ultimately fell to Tippecanoe, 33–16, ending a remarkable 12–1 season.

The game began with early drama when London fumbled the opening kickoff on their own 30. The defense responded immediately, holding Tippecanoe to a field-goal attempt and blocking the kick to keep the game scoreless. After several strong defensive stands, Tippecanoe struck first with a 50-yard touchdown pass on 3rd down, giving them a 7–0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

London answered in the second. A perfectly executed fake punt from their own 30-yard line sparked a drive that ended with a Bryston Toronto rushing touchdown. The extra point clanged off the upright, leaving London trailing 7–6 at the half.

The third quarter turned into a defensive slugfest. London’s front seven delivered several key stops, and the offense capitalized when Eli Noble drilled a 38-yard field goal, giving London a 9–7 lead heading into the fourth.

Early in the final quarter, Toronto punched in his second touchdown of the night as London extended the advantage. But Tippecanoe responded with a burst of momentum, stringing together multiple scoring drives that swung the game in their favor.

Despite the loss, the Red Raiders displayed the heart and toughness that defined their season. They finish the season with a strong 12–1 record, earning widespread respect across the region as they reach back-to-back regional finals.

Boys & Girls Bowling Open Their Seasons at Tecumseh — Tuesday, Nov. 18

The London bowling program kicked off its 2025 season on the road against Tecumseh.
The London Boys opened the year with a strong performance, defeating Tecumseh in their first match of the season and setting an early tone for what they hope will be a successful campaign.

The London girls also competed hard in their season opener but fell to a consistent Tecumseh squad. Despite the loss, the match provided valuable early-season experience as the Lady Raiders look to build momentum in the coming weeks.

Girls Basketball Dominates Season Opener — Saturday, Nov. 22

The London girls basketball team impressively opened its season, rolling past Whitehall-Yearling 60–17.

Addison Lambert powered the Lady Raiders with a standout all-around performance: 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Makayla Jackson nearly recorded a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds, while Addison Sims added 11 points to help London control the game from start to finish.

The decisive win provides early momentum as the team begins its non-conference schedule.
