Principal Message

Dear LHS Families,

Please review the update with the information shared. December 9th, there will be no school for LHS students (letter regarding December 9 is shared below.) Buses will still operate for Tolles; midday pick-up and drop-off will be at the football field. December 10 is the Hour of AI. In previous years, this was the Hour of Code. The bell schedule for the day is listed below.

Our student's have also been hard at work to put on "A Texas Carol." This will be December 11-13 in the Joyce Hildebrand Auditorium.

Next week is exam week. The schedule is listed below. Please check your student's grades with them. Second-quarter grades determine eligibility, while first-semester marks determine credits being earned toward graduation.

The counselors will be asking students for information regarding driver's licenses; CPR certifications done for lifeguarding, babysitting or other Red Cross approved; and other certifications they may have received for training at their workplace. These items can assist students in showing their readiness and can qualify for the Industry Credential seal.

Here’s to a great week!

Ryan Rismiller
Principal, London High School
Go Red Raiders!

December 9- LHS Students- No School

Dear London City Schools Families and Community Members,

Earlier this week, our community experienced a profound loss with the passing of Madison County Sheriff Lieutenant Bryan White. Lt. White dedicated much of his life to serving the people of Madison and Clark Counties, as well as the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI). His commitment to public service touched countless lives, and his loss is deeply felt across the region.

After speaking with representatives from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the funeral home, and in recognition of Lt. White’s strong ties to our community, London High School will host his funeral services next Tuesday, December 9th, at 11:00 a.m.

Because of the large expected attendance, including a significant representation from local and regional law enforcement, classes at London High School will be canceled on Tuesday. London Preschool, London Elementary School, and London Middle School will be open and operate as scheduled.

We are proud to have the opportunity to support Lt. White’s family, colleagues, and friends during this difficult time. Thank you for your understanding and support as we come together to honor a devoted public servant.

Sincerely,

Dr. Lou Kramer

District Superintendent

How to keep that fact (and her body) from a family on the edge and salvage what remains of Christmas? A Texas Carol is a hysterical and heart-warming take on all things Christmas and all things Texas! December 11-13, 2025 at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $10 adults and $8 students, cash sales at the door.

First Semester Exams December 16-19

Driver's Education

Schwartz Driving School has opened a location in London. It is located at 167 West High Street. They have also provided vouchers to the school which gives students FREE classroom instruction. The driver's training is at a reduced rate through the voucher. These vouchers can be picked up from Mr. Rismiller. Families will need to call Schwartz Driving School at 614-882-4235 to enroll.

Transportation

Student safety is our highest priority. As colder weather approaches, we want to remind families and students of an important transportation safety guideline: blankets are not permitted on school buses.

While we understand the desire to stay warm during morning and afternoon routes, blankets can create several safety concerns, including:

-Tripping or entanglement hazards when entering, exiting, or moving on the bus
-Increased risk during emergency evacuations, when every second counts
-Difficulty for drivers to clearly see students and ensure safe behavior

To help keep all riders safe, we ask that students dress warmly in coats, hats, and gloves instead of bringing blankets.

Our drivers and staff are committed to maintaining a safe environment on every route, and we appreciate your partnership in following transportation safety guidelines. If you have questions about this expectation, please contact the Transportation Department.

Thank you for helping us keep our buses safe for all students.

Sincerely,
London City Schools Transportation Department

Stay In the Game

Consistent school attendance is essential for student success. Even a few missed days each month—whether excused or unexcused—can have a lasting impact on learning.Research shows that missing just two days a month can cause students to fall behind in foundational skills both academically and socially. Let’s work together to ensure our students are present, engaged, and thriving every day.

Safety

As winter weather arrives, please take extra care traveling to and from school. Dress warmly, watch for icy sidewalks, and stay visible at bus stops. Drivers, please slow down, leave extra space, and give yourself plenty of time in snowy or icy conditions. Keep an eye on school alerts for delays or closings.

Your safety is our priority. Stay warm, stay alert, and stay safe this winter!

Nurse news

As we move into the colder months, we want to remind families of a few important health and wellness tips to help keep students comfortable and prepared throughout the school day. With temperatures dropping, please be sure your child comes to school dressed for the weather. Warm jackets, hats, and gloves are essential for both morning bus stops and outdoor recess. Students go outside as long as conditions are safe, and having appropriate cold-weather clothing helps them stay warm, healthy, and able to enjoy their time outdoors.

We also encourage families to send a complete change of clothing in their child’s backpack. Even older students experience unexpected spills, messy lunches, and occasional wipeouts at recess. Having an extra outfit available at school allows students to return to learning quickly without requiring parents to interrupt their day to bring in clothing.

There are many illnesses circulating right now, and we appreciate families continuing to monitor their child’s health. If you have any questions about whether your student should attend school or need guidance on symptoms, please reach out to the building nurse. Thank you for your help in keeping our school community healthy, warm, and ready to learn this winter season.

Sports Recap

🍁🍂 London High School Fall Sports Recap 🍂🍁

written by: Brylee Huff and Jacey Peters

🏈 Football – Falling Into Victory

The London High School football team put together an incredible season, finishing with an impressive 12–1 record that showed just how dominant they were from start to finish. With 17 seniors leading the way, the team brought experience, confidence, and a strong sense of leadership to every game. One of the biggest highlights of their season was their unbelievable six-game shutout streak, where their defense completely locked down opponents and set the tone for their success. Their hard work and talent carried them deep into the postseason, where they battled their way into the Elite 8, proving they were among the top teams in the state. Even though the season eventually came to an end, the legacy this group left behind—especially the senior class—will be remembered for a long time. It was a year full of intensity, teamwork, and unforgettable moments for London football.

🍂🏐 Girls Volleyball – Rising Like Autumn Leaves

The Varsity Girls Volleyball team put together a standout season, finishing as conference runner-ups and regional runner-ups after a ton of hard work and steady improvement. Early in the season, the team focused on growing their chemistry and sharpening their skills, and that progress showed as they became stronger and more competitive with every match. Their determination and teamwork carried them deep into the postseason, proving just how much they had grown from the start of the year. A huge highlight of the season was Sam Webb’s incredible milestone—reaching 1,000 career kills, breaking the school kill record, and breaking the school's ace record. Her accomplishment added an exciting and memorable moment to an already impressive year. Overall, the team’s grit, growth, and competitive spirit made this season one to be proud of, setting the bar even higher for the years to come.

🍁⚽ Girls Soccer – Strength Through Every Season

The London High School Girls Soccer team fought hard this season, fielding a young squad with only a handful of returning players. Despite injuries that left them short-handed throughout the year, the girls showed resilience, dedication, and outstanding sportsmanship. A highlight of the season was their well-earned victory over Northwestern. Congratulations to Sydney Powell and Lilly Lohr for being named First Team and Second Team All-Conference, respectively.

🍂⚽ Boys Soccer – Battling Through the Season

The London Red Raiders Boys Soccer team had an overall record of 6–11 and in conference play they went 1–4, placing 5th in the conference. Key wins and high points during the season included a 3–1 victory over Northwestern High School with goals by TyWhite, Chase Daugherty, and Kyle Bell. On September 13th, they earned a 3–2 road win over Chillicothe High School, followed shortly after by a 1–0 home win vs. Shawnee High School with a solid clean sheet and a goal by senior Nathan Russell. On October 4th, they capped off another exciting match with a 3–2 win over Miami Trace High School after a competitive finish.

🍁🏃‍♂️ Boys Cross Country – Running Into Autumn Glory

The Boys Cross Country team traveled all around to different schools and made the London Cross Country name known! Big highlights included the first meet at Piqua, where the boys finished 10th out of 28 schools and senior Cameron Carn placed 2nd overall out of 200 runners with an impressive time of 15:40, breaking his own school record. Mid-season at the Ben Logan Invite, the boys placed 3rd out of 11 schools, with Cameron again finishing 2nd overall and sophomore Anthony Shoaf placing 6th. During Senior Night at the home invite, the boys finished 4th out of 12 schools as Cameron stood out again, finishing 1st out of 154 runners in 15:56. The season concluded with senior Cameron Carn competing at the State Meet, where he placed 68th. The boys’ team demonstrated strong competitiveness and consistency across multiple meets.

🍂🏃‍♀️ Girls Cross Country – Strong Steps Through the Season

The Girls Cross Country team also made the London Girls Cross Country name known across many different schools. At the first meet at Piqua, junior Ashley Nolan ran a 20:53, earning a spot on the school’s all-time 3.1-mile list and finishing 27th overall. At the mid-season Ben Logan Invite, the girls placed 5th out of 10 schools, with senior Bailey Colestock finishing 10th and junior Ashley Nolan placing 12th. On Senior Night at the home invite, the girls placed 4th out of 7 schools as Colestock ran a personal best of 20:44 to place 15th, and Nolan finished 20th.

🍁🎾 Girls Tennis – A Harvest of Hard Work

The London High School Girls Tennis team proudly congratulates Sophia Alt, Shayla Lowe, and Alaina Tate on earning CBC All-Conference honors. Their hard work, sportsmanship, and dedication throughout the season truly set them apart and brought well-deserved recognition to the program. The team also celebrated the installation of beautiful new tennis courts, which have already made a positive impact on practices and matches. Along with the new courts, the addition of a brand-new tennis wall created more opportunities for training, skill-building, and off-court practice. These improvements, combined with the athletes’ commitment and teamwork, helped the Raiders put together an impressive and memorable season. From strong match performances to steady growth across the lineup, the girls demonstrated what dedication can achieve—making this year one of pride, progress, and promise for the future.

🍂📣 Cheerleading – Spirit in the Autumn Air

The Cheerleaders sure did cheer loud! Congratulations to the competition cheer team at the competition, and congratulations to our 2025 All CBC Cheerleaders: Irelyn Hastings, Cortney Akers, Logan Hall, Isabel Piper, and Carly Mason.

🍁⛳ Girls Golf – A Historic Fall Finish

The London High School Girls Golf team had an amazing season, capped off by winning the conference for the first time in school history. With a new coach this year, the team adjusted quickly and really connected with their leadership. With only two returning players out of ten, most of the team spent the season learning and improving together. Despite having many new faces, they bonded quickly, encouraged one another, and improved each week. Altogether, it was a memorable and exciting year for the London Girls Golf team, and definitely one they will be proud of for a long time.

🍂⛳ Boys Golf

The boys’ golf team had a great season, finishing 3rd in their conference and 2nd place in the conference tournament. The raider boys’ golf team was led by senior Bryson Payne who earned 1st team all conference honors. Jacob Porter earned 2nd team all conference, and Oliver Dingledine earned special mention all conference as well as the sportsmanship award. The boys finished the season hot as they went 4-1 in their last 5 matches. Congratulations to boy’s golf on a great season!

🍁🎺 Pride of London Marching Band - Excellence Under Pressure

The London High School Marching Band had a great fall season, returning to prominence as they marched their way into the state competition. Then the Pride of London made the Raider community proud by earning a Superior rating at the OMEA State Competition! Their dedication, discipline, and energy continue to resound throughout London!
