Dear High School Student Families,

It's Homecoming Week on a four-day week! The end of the first grading period is this week as well. It is time to wrap up any assignments before grade cards are issued. Eligibility for second quarter sports is based on grades from this quarter.

Morning drop off is looking better each morning. Thank you to all who have a role in this. Students that are driving and parking at the school are expected to have a parking pass. These are available for $5 in the main office. This assists us with knowing what vehicles are supposed to be at the school during school hours.

School fees are listed on the students' report cards. Some of these fees have accumulated since elementary school or include pay-to-participate. These can be paid online through PaySchools (there is a convenience fee) or checks can be sent to London High School. (These are printed on the grade cards that are mailed home and viewable by selecting "View Paper Report Card.") The amount posted is the accumulated amount from the last time fees have been paid.

Reminder to students and families. Cell phones are to be out of sight when students are in hallways and classrooms. This includes airpods. Students will have access to their devices during their lunch.

Schwartz Driving School has opened a location in London. It is located at 167 West High Street. They have also provided vouchers to the school which gives students FREE classroom instruction. The driver's training is at a reduced rate through the voucher. These vouchers can be picked up from Mr. Rismiller. Families will need to call Schwartz Driving School at 614-882-4235 to enroll.

London City Schools encourages you to maintain an attendance calendar or chart at home. At the end of each week, take the time to check in with your student and discuss any absences. Additionally, at the end of the month, revisit the calendar and have a conversation with your student about whether the attendance goals were met. Together, let's make sure they "Stay in the Game" for academic success!

Ever wondered what it's like to drive a school bus? Now’s your chance to find out! London City Schools is hosting a special hiring event where you can test drive a school bus in a safe, controlled setting.

Event Details:

Date: Tuesday, November 5th

Time: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

To participate, schedule your time slot

Please note that drivers must have a valid driver’s license, be at least 21 years old, and have a minimum of two years of driving experience. For more information, contact our Transportation Department at transportation.lcs@london.k12.oh.us

Children need healthy meals to thrive and succeed in school. London City Schools is proud to offer nutritious meals to all students each school day. Breakfast is available for $1.75 at London Elementary School (LES) and $2.00 at London Middle School (LMS) and London High School (LHS). Lunch is $3.00 at LES and $3.50 at LMS and LHS.

Your child may qualify for free or reduced-price meals based on your household's income. The reduced prices are $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch. To see if your family qualifies, please complete the 2024-2025 Free and Reduced Meal Application included in this packet.

Welcome Back! Important Health Information for the Upcoming School Year

As we begin the new school year, here are some key health reminders:

Vision and Hearing Screenings:  
Throughout the school year, students in grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 will undergo vision and hearing screenings. If your child is already under the care of a specialist or you prefer they not be tested, please inform their teacher (k-5) or school nurse. Additional details can be found in the attached information.

Immunization Records:  
For students in Kindergarten, 7th, and 12th grades, it is crucial that you submit your child's immunization record to their school immediately to ensure they are not excluded from attending.

- Kindergarteners must have had a physical within the past year, and you need to submit the paperwork along with an updated immunization record or exemption form.
- 7th graders need an updated immunization record, including meningococcal and Tdap vaccines unless you have an exemption.
- 12th graders are required to have an updated immunization record that includes the meningococcal vaccine, unless exempted.

Extra Clothing for Elementary Students: 
For our younger students, please send an extra set of clothing to be kept in their lockers in case of accidents, spills, or playground mishaps. This can help prevent interruptions during your day if a change of clothing is needed.

Medical Needs: 
If your child has any medical conditions or needs, please contact the school's health staff to ensure they are aware of all necessary information.

Hello parents! As we head into October, I want to take a moment to go over some important safety reminders.

To ensure the safety of our students and staff, it’s essential that we all continue to follow the designated pick-up and drop-off procedures at each school. Please keep in mind that the school zone speed limit on Elm and Keny is 20 mph, and this is strictly enforced. Once on campus, the speed limit is reduced to 15 mph.

A big thank you to those of you at the elementary school who are following the drop-off procedures. However, we’ve noticed some drivers beginning to drop off in front of the building. Please take the extra time to use the designated drop-off area to ensure everyone's safety.
