Driver's Education

Schwartz Driving School has opened a location in London. It is located at 167 West High Street. They have also provided vouchers to the school which gives students FREE classroom instruction. The driver's training is at a reduced rate through the voucher. These vouchers can be picked up from Mr. Rismiller. Families will need to call Schwartz Driving School at 614-882-4235 to enroll.

Transportation

Student safety is our highest priority. As colder weather approaches, we want to remind families and students of an important transportation safety guideline: blankets are not permitted on school buses.

While we understand the desire to stay warm during morning and afternoon routes, blankets can create several safety concerns, including:

-Tripping or entanglement hazards when entering, exiting, or moving on the bus
-Increased risk during emergency evacuations, when every second counts
-Difficulty for drivers to clearly see students and ensure safe behavior

To help keep all riders safe, we ask that students dress warmly in coats, hats, and gloves instead of bringing blankets.

Our drivers and staff are committed to maintaining a safe environment on every route, and we appreciate your partnership in following transportation safety guidelines. If you have questions about this expectation, please contact the Transportation Department.

Thank you for helping us keep our buses safe for all students.

Sincerely,
London City Schools Transportation Department

Students who are never chronically absent are:
6.7x more likely to read on grade level by the end of 3rd grade
9x more likely to graduate on time and be ready for college and careers

Every day counts. Let’s work together to keep our students showing up and thriving!

Safety

Welcome back, London City Schools students and families! As we return to school, I want to remind everyone of a few important safety tips to help keep our school zones, parking lots, and walkways safe for all:

Slow Down & Stay Alert – Be prepared to stop in school zones, residential areas, intersections, and crosswalks. Watch for students walking and biking to school.

Follow Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures – Parents, please use the designated drop-off and pick-up routes provided by the school to ensure a smooth and safe process.

Avoid Distractions – Whether driving, biking, or walking, put phones away and stay focused on your surroundings. Expect the unexpected!

Plan for Extra Travel Time – School traffic can be busy! Allow extra time in the mornings and afternoons, especially when driving through school zones.

Practice Safe Travel Habits – Always buckle up! Use sidewalks, crosswalks, and helmets when biking or walking. Safety starts with small, smart choices.

Let’s work together to make this school year a safe and successful one! Thank you for doing your part to keep our students and staff safe.

Nurse news

As we move into the colder months, we want to remind families of a few important health and wellness tips to help keep students comfortable and prepared throughout the school day. With temperatures dropping, please be sure your child comes to school dressed for the weather. Warm jackets, hats, and gloves are essential for both morning bus stops and outdoor recess. Students go outside as long as conditions are safe, and having appropriate cold-weather clothing helps them stay warm, healthy, and able to enjoy their time outdoors.

We also encourage families to send a complete change of clothing in their child’s backpack. Even older students experience unexpected spills, messy lunches, and occasional wipeouts at recess. Having an extra outfit available at school allows students to return to learning quickly without requiring parents to interrupt their day to bring in clothing.

There are many illnesses circulating right now, and we appreciate families continuing to monitor their child’s health. If you have any questions about whether your student should attend school or need guidance on symptoms, please reach out to the building nurse. Thank you for your help in keeping our school community healthy, warm, and ready to learn this winter season.

Raiders Roll Through the Holidays

Created by: Brylee Huff and Jacey Peters

London Athletics Holiday & New Year Recap (Dec. 20 – Jan. 4)
London student-athletes stayed busy and competitive throughout the holiday break, turning in strong performances across the pool, lanes, mats, and courts. From tournament podium finishes to decisive wins, the Raiders showed depth, resilience, and momentum heading into the new year.

🏊 Swimming
London competed against tough fields at two major invitationals over the break. At the Butler Holiday Invitational, the Raiders finished 8th overall, highlighted by Griffin Lotton’s dominant 1st-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle and a 2nd-place showing in the 200 freestyle. Caelan Mars added a 5th-place finish in the 500 free, while Gabe Scholl placed in the top ten in both the 200 freestyle and individual medley. On January 3 at Ohio University’s Turn It In Gold Invitational, London placed 16th out of 32 teams, with Lotton again leading the way with a 5th-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.

🎳 Boys Bowling
The Raiders picked up a convincing home win over Northeastern, rolling to a 2175–1690 victory. London continued to post strong scores despite a tough road loss at Ben Logan, where they faced a high-scoring opponent in a 2720–2315 defeat. Consistent pinfall throughout the break kept the Raiders competitive against quality programs.

🎳 Girls Bowling
London’s girls bowling team showed grit in a tightly contested match at Ben Logan, falling just short by a narrow 2105–2098 margin. The Lady Raiders stayed within striking distance all match long, demonstrating steady improvement and composure on the road.

🏀 Girls Basketball
The Lady Raiders dominated over the holiday stretch, earning decisive road wins at Miami Trace (66–28) and Washington Court House (49–14). London capped the run with a solid 55–40 victory at Urbana, showcasing balanced scoring, strong defense, and consistent execution.

🏀 Boys Basketball
London split a busy stretch of games, falling at home to Miami Trace (76–66) before bouncing back with road and home victories over Greenview (67–58) and Bloom-Carroll (64–54). The Raiders showed resilience and poise, finishing the break with momentum heading into conference play.

🤼 Boys Wrestling
London wrestlers turned in multiple podium finishes at West Jefferson and Logan Elm. Brody Howard consistently placed near the top, earning multiple 4th-place finishes, while Taven Huff and Thadd Crawford also cracked the top five in tournament action. Thadd Crawford highlighted the stretch with a 3rd-place finish at Logan Elm as the Raiders continued to gain valuable mat experience.

🤼‍♀️ Girls Wrestling
The Lady Raiders delivered an outstanding performance at the Lady Pioneer Classic, finishing 4th out of 29 teams. Khloe Jackson and Alyson Rojas each placed 4th, while Hannah Howard and Ella Ballah added 5th-place finishes. Multiple other Raiders earned top-ten placements, marking one of the program’s strongest tournament showings to date.
