Principal Message

As we enter the second week of January, there are several things to start preparing for and keeping in mind. All high school students are accruing credit and GPAs towards graduation. These marks are significant when conducting future planning for the school of your choice. Attendance matters. Employers, colleges, and military will want to know about your attendance and that you are making a significant effort towards your future self. We also start to plan for 2025-2026. Course guides and scheduling meetings will be shared. For our seniors, this is your last semester; make it count. Start planning to make sure you have done all of the necessary things to be able to walk in at Graduation in May.

Go Red Raiders!

Are you interested in taking college classes during the 2025-26 school year?  If so, plan to attend one of two important College Credit Plus Informational Meetings and Counseling Sessions for students and families in January.  The second will be on Wednesday, January 15th in the LMS Cafeteria.  The first meeting will focus more on CCP for high school students, with the second meeting talking more in depth about CCP for students in 7th and 8th grades.  There will be representatives from Clark State College, The Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College at both events. Families only need to attend one of the meetings and can choose to attend either.

If you have questions, email Mrs. Dennis at betsy.dennis@london.k12.oh.us.

Cell Phone policy

Reminder to students and families. Cell phones are to be out of sight when students are in hallways and classrooms. This includes airpods. Students will have access to their devices during their lunch.

Driver's Education

Schwartz Driving School has opened a location in London. It is located at 167 West High Street. They have also provided vouchers to the school which gives students FREE classroom instruction. The driver's training is at a reduced rate through the voucher. These vouchers can be picked up from Mr. Rismiller. Families will need to call Schwartz Driving School at 614-882-4235 to enroll.

Attendance

At London City Schools, we recognize that improved attendance brings numerous benefits, such as engaged learning, better mental health, and positive effects on families and communities. When schools, families, students, and the community work together to tackle the factors affecting attendance, we can help our kids stay on the path to future success. Let's join forces to keep our students in the game and thriving!

Winter Transportation Safety Update

As winter weather approaches, London City Schools reminds families to prioritize safety when traveling to and from school. Snow, ice, and reduced visibility can make roads more hazardous, so please allow extra time for travel and remind students to stay alert when boarding or exiting buses.

To ensure smooth and timely transportation, it’s important that students are ready and waiting at their designated bus stops when the bus arrives. Students should not remain indoors as this can delay the route and disrupt schedules for others. Bus drivers will take extra precautions to ensure everyone arrives safely, and families are encouraged to dress children warmly for potential delays.

If weather conditions impact school schedules, updates will be communicated via our website, social media, and local news outlets.

Together, we can keep our students safe and on schedule this winter!

Healthcare

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we enter the colder months, I’d like to remind everyone of a few essentials to help keep our students comfortable, safe, and prepared for any unexpected situations.

1. Change of Clothes for Elementary Students: For our younger students, please consider sending a spare set of clothes in their backpacks. Accidents, spills, or minor mishaps can happen at any time, and having a change of clothes ready can make their day much easier.

2. Weather-Appropriate Outerwear: As temperatures drop, please send students with warm coats, hats, and gloves to ensure they stay cozy during recess and other outdoor activities. Layers are also a good idea, as they allow students to adjust to indoor and outdoor temperatures more comfortably.

3. Handwashing: With cold and flu season here, please encourage your child to wash their hands frequently, especially before meals and after recess. Keeping hands clean is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of germs and keep everyone healthy!

Thank you for helping us ensure all students are prepared for a healthy and happy November

Always stop for school buses when they are picking up or dropping off students. Passing a stopped bus is not only illegal, but it also puts children's safety at risk. Let's all do our part to ensure the safety of our students by following this important rule.
