Principal Message

Dear High School Student Families,

We are in in the midst of the scheduling process for the 2024-2025 school year. This week starts the process of entering requests. Students were sent an email with a username and password that they will use for entering their requests with the counselors this week.

We are also trying something a little different for scheduling Parent Teacher Conferences. We are using Digital Booking pages to assist with reserving time slots for the teachers you would like to meet with. The second day of conferences is February 6, 3:00-6:00. Please check ProgressBook for your students grades and for which teachers you may want to visit. We hope you will be able to join us.

Please also check that your contact information is correct through Final Forms. We will be receiving Fall State Test Scores, preparing for the Spring ACT, working through scheduling and much more that we want to make sure you are getting connected with the details.

Drivers must adhere to posted school zone speed limits and exercise heightened awareness, particularly in the vicinity of crosswalks. Students are reminded to activate the crosswalk button, which functions similarly to a cell phone and responds to touch by a bare hand, and to exercise caution by checking for oncoming traffic before entering the crosswalk.

Looking forward to a great week!

Go Red Raiders!

ATTENDANCE MATTERS: LCS PARTNERS WITH STAY IN THE GAME NETWORK TO HELP ADDRESS CHRONIC STUDENT ABSENCES

Attendance holds significance for each student within London City Schools. Every moment of learning is valuable. Regular school attendance contributes to students being 6.7 times more likely to read on grade level by third grade and 9 times more likely to graduate high school on time.

Nurse

A quick update from Nurse:

With cold and flu season here, please reach out if you have any questions about when to keep your child home from school. If your child is one who gets a flu shot, and hasn't gotten theirs yet, it's not too late. Reach out to your child's pediatrician and the Health Department offers them as well.

As a reminder, if your child has one of the following, they should stay home.
Fever
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Cough (that is persistent or disruptive to your child's learning or the learning of others)
Respiratory issues

Of course to help and try to keep all of the mentioned above at bay, good and frequent hand washing is so important. Please remind your child of this and our amazing teachers and staff will be helping to reinforce good handwashing as well.

For our elementary students, please make sure they have a warm coat along with a hat and gloves (if needed) as there will be outdoor recess as long as weather allows. AND, please make sure your child has an extra set of clothing in case of bathroom accidents, spills or wipeouts on the playground. If your child has an extra set of clothing, it will save you a trip to the school.

Transportation

Update from Transportation

The commitment to prioritize the safety and security of your child, as well as that of our entire community, remains unwavering. We sincerely appreciate your collaboration in establishing a secure and efficient transportation experience for all stakeholders.

Allow us to reiterate a few procedural reminders aimed at enhancing safety during your child's transit:

Appropriate Attire Adherence: It is recommended that your child be attired in warm clothing, encompassing coats, hats, scarves, and gloves, especially during inclement weather at bus stops. Should your student require any of these items, please reach out to the office. It's important to note that blankets are not permitted within the bus.

Punctuality Protocol: Ensuring your child arrives at the designated bus stop a minimum of five minutes in advance each day is crucial. Punctuality plays a pivotal role in preventing instances of panic, bus pursuit, or inadvertent interactions with traffic.
