Good afternoon families!

The calendar has turned to May. Exams, celebrations, spring concerts, post-season of spring sports are all on the horizon. Please help encourage your students to finish strong through the end of the year. Grades at the end of the quarter will impact student eligibility for fall sports. Grades at the end of the semester will impact students' GPAs or if Summer School is needed to finish courses that were failed. Attendance to school is critical. If your student is sick, please communicate with the school.

Notice to all families (especially Senior families,) please check the printed version of the last report cards. School fees are listed. Some fees have been accumulating since elementary school. To access this, go to your ProgressBook page, click Report Card (this was the left side of my computer screen), and click view paper report card (this was on the top of my computer screen.)

Notice to all high school drivers, beware of your surroundings, watch for pedestrians, take your time in school zones, and if assisting with dropping off siblings- watch for children getting in and out of cars.

Employers, colleges, and military will want to know about your attendance and that you are making a significant effort towards your future self. For our seniors, this is your last semester; make it count. Start planning to make sure you have done all of the necessary things to be able to walk in at Graduation in May.

Reminder to students and families. Cell phones are to be out of sight when students are in hallways and classrooms. This includes airpods. Students will have access to their devices during their lunch.

Schwartz Driving School has opened a location in London. It is located at 167 West High Street. They have also provided vouchers to the school which gives students FREE classroom instruction. The driver's training is at a reduced rate through the voucher. These vouchers can be picked up from Mr. Rismiller. Families will need to call Schwartz Driving School at 614-882-4235 to enroll.

Encourage your student to develop good daily habits such as completing homework and placing it in the backpack, laying out clothes and packing the backpack the night before, and going to bed at a regular time to ensure a good night’s sleep. Make sure to allow enough time in the morning to leave early and arrive at school on time. It's also helpful to turn off electronic devices at least one hour before bedtime to promote better rest. Support your student in building responsibility by providing reminders to make up any missed school work following an absence.

Message from the Transportation Department

The 2025–2026 District Transportation Survey is now available!

To request transportation for the upcoming school year, please be sure to update your contact information in Final Forms and complete the transportation survey. This information is essential to help us plan bus routes and ensure safe and efficient transportation for all students.

Deadline to submit: Friday, August 1st, 2025

Additionally, our Transportation staff will be available at each school's open house to share specific pickup and drop-off times and locations for your student(s). We look forward to assisting you there!

Children need healthy meals to thrive and succeed in school. London City Schools is proud to offer nutritious meals to all students each school day. Breakfast is available for $1.75 at London Elementary School (LES) and $2.00 at London Middle School (LMS) and London High School (LHS). Lunch is $3.00 at LES and $3.50 at LMS and LHS.

Your child may qualify for free or reduced-price meals based on your household's income. The reduced prices are $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch. To see if your family qualifies, please complete the 2024-2025 Free and Reduced Meal Application included in this packet.

Wrapping Up the School Year: Important Reminders Before Summer 

As we approach the final month of the school year, please take a moment to review these important updates and reminders:

Vaccination Requirements – State of Ohio

Incoming 7th Graders
All students entering 7th grade must have the following before the first day of school:

• Tdap booster (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)

• Meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine

Incoming Seniors
Students entering 12th grade are required to receive their second dose of the meningococcal vaccine.

To avoid exclusion from school, these requirements must be completed before the 10th day of the new school year. Appointments can be made with your child’s pediatrician or the local Health Department.

Exemption forms are available for families who choose not to vaccinate and are also due by the 10th day of school.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 

Take time this month to talk openly and honestly with your child about their emotions and mental well-being. Active listening and showing empathy can go a long way. Together, we can reduce the stigma often associated with mental health and create a culture of support and understanding.

Medication Reminders for the 2025–2026 School Year 

If your child will require medication during school hours next year, please note the following:

• A new physician’s order is required for all medications each school year.

• Do not send medications with your child, except for:

  • Inhalers

  • Diabetic supplies

  • EpiPens

• All other medications must be brought to school by an adult.
