Principal Message

Dear High School Student Families,

Thank you for helping us have a nice start to the year. Grade-level meetings were held this week to share expectations. In addition to expectations, information about ensuring students take the necessary steps to graduate was discussed. Any students who drive and park their vehicles at the school are expected to have a parking pass. Forms are available in the office, parking passes are $5. Your students have worked well through the updated cell phone expectations. Students have been taking redirection.

A few reminders as we start back up:

  • School doors open at 7:00.

  • Students will be released to their first period at 7:10.

  • Class starts at 7:20. Students arriving at their classroom after 7:20 need to report to the office for a late pass.

  • Students are expected to remove their hats, hoods, AirPods, or other headphone device, and put phones away as they enter the building.

  • If driving students and dropping them off, please use the loop and drop off students on the fire lane side for building entry. Please help us keep from having a line that backs up onto Elm.

  • Students who are driving are expected to be licensed and use the student parking spots. Information for parking passes is now available in the office.

School fees are listed on the students' report cards. Some of these fees have accumulated since elementary school or include pay-to-participate. These can be paid online through PaySchools (there is a convenience fee) or checks can be sent to London High School. (These are printed on the grade cards that are mailed home and viewable by selecting "View Paper Report Card.") The amount posted is the accumulated amount from the last time fees have been paid.

We hope all have had an incredible summer! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Go Red Raiders!

-Ryan Rismiller

Monday, August 19, there will be a Junior-Senior Assembly with the program Think Fast. This will be held in the auditorium. It will start at 9:00 AM. There is an opportunity to earn prizes. We look forward to offering this to you! Thank you Officer Langham for helping bring this program to us.

Cell Phone policy

Friday afternoon the message listed below was sent through Final Forms. London City Schools has a cell phone policy to meet the current expectations as shared in House Bill 250 by Governor DeWine. London High School will be monitoring, managing, and maintaining this policy closer this year. The school's practices regarding Electronic Communication Devices can be found on Page 16 and 17 of the Student Handbook. A link to the handbook can be found in this newsletter and on the school website.

Thank you for your assistance in helping us provide a stronger foundation in your students' learning environment at London High School.

With the start of school just around the corner, London High School wanted to take a proactive approach in communicating with our community regarding recent legislation passed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. House Bill 250 focuses on minimizing student use of cell phones in K-12 schools and the establishment of school cell phone policies. Students may receive school discipline for cell phone usage without prior written approval within a classroom setting at London High School. We will be informing our student body regarding our district cell phone policy at the start of the 2024-2025 school year. Please feel free to have conversations with your children regarding the reinforcement of our district cellphone policy. Furthermore, if you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.

Driver's Education

Schwartz Driving School has opened a location in London. It is located at 167 West High Street. They have also provided vouchers to the school which gives students FREE classroom instruction. The driver's training is at a reduced rate through the voucher. These vouchers can be picked up from Mr. Rismiller. Families will need to call Schwartz Driving School at 614-882-4235 to enroll.

Pay Schools
Attendance

Regular school attendance plays a vital role in helping students build the academic, social, and emotional skills they need to thrive. By attending school consistently, students can stay on track with their learning and development. At London City Schools, we believe in the importance of every school day, as it sets the foundation for future success. From preschool and kindergarten through high school, being present helps students develop critical skills, achieve academic milestones, and stay on the path to graduation. Let's work together to ensure every student reaches their full potential by making attendance a priority!
