Principal Message

Dear High School Student Families,

It is Parent Teacher Conference time. Some families received an email on Friday to invite them in for the current performance of their students. If you would like to schedule a meeting, please use the image below to schedule your conferences.

School fees were listed on the most recent interim reports. If you believe that your fees are an error, you may need to update your student's free/reduced lunch forms. I

This week is another big week of events for our students. Please come out to support them! We also encourage you to look ahead on the calendar as Parent Teacher Conferences, Awards Night, Senior Nights and our Second Annual 3E Fair will be here before we know it.

Thank you to all who are dropping their students off at the fire lane, it helps with traffic flow. Here are a few reminders as we start back up:

  • School doors open at 7:00.

  • Students will be released to their first period at 7:10.

  • Class starts at 7:20. Students arriving at their classroom after 7:20 need to report to the office for a late pass.

  • Students are expected to remove their hats, hoods, AirPods, or other headphone device, and put phones away as they enter the building.

  • If driving students and dropping them off, please use the loop and drop off students on the fire lane side for building entry. Please help us keep from having a line that backs up onto Elm.

  • Students who are driving are expected to be licensed and use the student parking spots. Information for parking passes is now available in the office.

School fees are listed on the students' report cards. Some of these fees have accumulated since elementary school or include pay-to-participate. These can be paid online through PaySchools (there is a convenience fee) or checks can be sent to London High School. (These are printed on the grade cards that are mailed home and viewable by selecting "View Paper Report Card.") The amount posted is the accumulated amount from the last time fees have been paid.

Go Red Raiders!

Transportation News

School Bus Stop Law Reminder

As the school year is in full swing, it's important to remind everyone of the school bus stop law, ensuring the safety of our students. The greatest risk to a child isn't riding a school bus—it's getting on and off the bus. Ohio Revised Code 4511.75 requires that all drivers must stop when a school bus is dropping off or picking up children.

Let's all do our part to ensure the safety of our children. Please stop for school buses and help make this a safe school year!

Healthcare

Welcome Back! Important Health Information for the Upcoming School Year

As we begin the new school year, here are some key health reminders:

Vision and Hearing Screenings:
Throughout the school year, students in grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 will undergo vision and hearing screenings. If your child is already under the care of a specialist or you prefer they not be tested, please inform their teacher (k-5) or school nurse. Additional details can be found in the attached information.

Immunization Records:
For students in Kindergarten, 7th, and 12th grades, it is crucial that you submit your child's immunization record to their school immediately to ensure they are not excluded from attending.

- Kindergarteners must have had a physical within the past year, and you need to submit the paperwork along with an updated immunization record or exemption form.
- 7th graders need an updated immunization record, including meningococcal and Tdap vaccines unless you have an exemption.
- 12th graders are required to have an updated immunization record that includes the meningococcal vaccine, unless exempted.

Extra Clothing for Elementary Students:
For our younger students, please send an extra set of clothing to be kept in their lockers in case of accidents, spills, or playground mishaps. This can help prevent interruptions during your day if a change of clothing is needed.

Medical Needs:
If your child has any medical conditions or needs, please contact the school's health staff to ensure they are aware of all necessary information.

For any questions or concerns, please reach out to our health team:

- Elizabeth Kennell, District RN: 740-852-5700 ext. 1067
- Monica Surrell, LPN (LMS): ext. 3073
- Baylee Semler, Nurse Aide (LHS): ext. 4055

Langham

Welcome back to school! I’m Officer Langham, the district’s School Resource Officer. This week marks the first full week back, and we’re off to a great start. As we continue working towards an outstanding school year, I want to take a moment to remind families and student drivers about some important safety guidelines to ensure a secure learning environment for everyone.

First, please remember to slow down to 20 miles per hour in the school zone. This speed limit is strictly enforced before and after school hours, as many students are walking to and from school during these times. If you see someone approaching the crosswalk on Elm Street, please slow down and prepare to stop. State law requires that you stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk, and this rule is also strictly enforced. Students who walk before and after school are encouraged to activate the crosswalk light for added safety.

For those dropping off students, please pull as far forward as possible before letting your child out of the car. This helps prevent traffic from backing up and ensures that students are dropped off within our designated safety zones.

Elementary parents, you’ve likely noticed the cones in front of the gate leading to the drop-off and pick-up area. These cones are there to keep traffic flowing smoothly during peak times. Once the line clears, I will remove them to maintain traffic flow. However, if the cones are not present and there’s a long line, please treat it as if they are there and join the back of the line. So far, this system has been working well, and I appreciate your cooperation.

When you enter the pick-up/drop-off area, please pull all the way forward so other cars can fit in. Also, please DO NOT PASS other cars in the drop-off line, as this poses a significant safety risk. Additionally, I’ve noticed some students standing while their vehicle is moving in the drop-off area—please ensure your child remains seated until the vehicle is fully stopped. If this continues, we will need to address it individually.

As I always tell my kids: safety first! Let’s work together to make this an awesome year. Thank you!

Officer Langham
