We are entering the last two weeks of the first quarter. Grades for this quarter will impact eligibility for the second quarter. We have our second day of Parent Teacher Conferences scheduled for October 2. Families of students with a D+ and below have been emailed a link to schedule conferences with their respective teachers. You can also use the Parent Teacher Conference image to arrange your meeting.

If you are a parent drop-off, please help the flow of the line by either dropping students off by the curb or at the circle by the tennis courts.

If you haven't done so, please take a few moments to log into FinalForms and complete or update your student’s information. This process ensures we have accurate emergency contacts, medical details, and activity participation forms on file for the year. We also ask that you take a few minutes to complete our 2025–2026 Planning Survey, which helps us better understand how we can support your student and family throughout the year. Your input is valued and important to our continuous improvement.

Here’s to a great week!

At London City Schools, student safety is always our top priority—especially when it comes to bus transportation. Riding the bus is a privilege, and by working together, we can make every trip safe and enjoyable for all students.

Key Bus Safety Rules

To help reinforce safe habits, please remind your child about these important expectations:

  1. Stay Seated While the Bus Is Moving
Children should remain in their seats to avoid injury and to keep the driver’s focus on the road.

  2. Use a Quiet Voice
Talking is allowed, but loud noises can distract the driver. Encourage your child to use a calm, quiet voice.

  3. Keep the Bus Clean
Trash and clutter create safety hazards. Students are expected to respect the bus environment and pick up after themselves.

  4. No Eating, Drinking, or Gum
Food and drinks can cause spills, choking risks, or sticky messes. These items are not permitted during bus rides.

  5. Always Listen to the Bus Driver
The driver’s instructions are for the safety of all passengers. Reinforcing respect for this authority helps ensure a smooth ride.

Sincerely,

Stay In the Game

At London City Schools, we know that every day in class matters. That’s why we’ve set a simple goal for our students: miss one day or less of school each month—whether the absence is excused or unexcused.

To help your family stay on track, we encourage you to keep an attendance calendar or chart at home. At the end of each week, take a few minutes to check in with your student and talk about any days they missed. At the end of the month, revisit the calendar together and reflect on whether the attendance goal was met.

These quick conversations not only build awareness but also give your child a sense of ownership over their learning. Together, let’s make sure all of our students“Stay in the Game” for academic success!

Safety

At London City Schools, safety is our top priority. Together, we can keep our schools secure and welcoming for everyone. Please remember to:

  • See Something, Say Something – Report concerns right away.

  • Check In – Always sign in at the office and wear your visitor badge.

  • Arrival & Dismissal – Use designated areas and follow traffic rules.

  • Digital Safety – Monitor online activity and promote responsible use.

  • Be Prepared – Drills help us practice for emergencies.

Thank you for helping us create a safe and supportive learning environment!

Nurse news

Hopefully, your family is beginning to settle into a regular school schedule, and your child(ren) are adjusting well to the routines of a new school year. With homework, practices, games, and other after-school activities, establishing consistent routines is so important for student success. Healthy meals and a good night’s sleep also help set your child on the right path to be their best self and have a successful year.

The Mobile Dentist will be visiting in November. Forms will be sent home on September 29th.  www.myschooldentist.com

Reminder: Please send an extra set of clothing with your student to keep in their locker. This helps prevent interruptions to your day if an accident, spill, or other mishap occurs. Having clothing on hand also minimizes the time your student is out of the classroom.

Sports Recap

Week of September 15 – September 20
It was a busy and action-packed week for London High School athletics, as teams across the board took on conference rivals and tournament competition. The highlight of the week was the annual homecoming parade featuring all of London’s fall sports teams. The week was capped off with the Red Raider Football team beating undefeated Graham in the Homecoming Football Game.

Soccer
The Varsity Boys Soccer team opened the week strong on September 15 with a 1–0 home victory over Shawnee, thanks to a decisive goal from senior Nathan Russell. That same evening, the Girls Soccer squad battled hard but fell to Shawnee, 4–0. On September 17, the Boys Soccer team dropped a home match to Jonathan Alder, while the Girls Soccer team showed resilience in their 6–1 loss to Alder, highlighted by a goal from junior Sydney Powell. The JV Boys Soccer team closed out the week on September 20 with a 5–0 defeat against Jonathan Alder.

Tennis
London’s Girls Tennis team earned a commanding 5–0 road sweep at Urbana on September 15. The following day, they returned home and fought in a nail-biter against Tecumseh, ultimately coming up short in a 3–2 loss.

Volleyball
The Varsity Volleyball team delivered a standout performance on September 16, winning on the road in four sets at Bellefontaine. The momentum continued on September 17, when the Red Raiders swept Graham at home in straight sets. The JV Volleyball squad also notched a clean 3-0 win over Graham.

Golf
Both the boys and girls golf teams competed in the CBC Tournament on September 16. The Boys Golf team finished second in the Kenton Trail division, with Bryson Payne earning First Team honors, Jacob Porter named to the Second Team, and Oliver Dingledine receiving both Special Mention and the Sportsmanship Award. The Girls Golf team impressed with a first-place finish in the Kenton Trail division, led by First Team honoree Aleshia Pollock, Second Team standout Addison Sims, Special Mention recipient Charley Peters, and a Sportsmanship Award for Pollock. On September 17, the Girls Golf team placed second at Locust Hills.

Cross-Country
Both the boys' and girls' cross-country teams had the week off as they prepare for a big week ahead, hosting their annual London Cross Country Invitational this Saturday, September 27th.

Football
Friday night lights brought plenty of excitement in the annual Homecoming Game, as the Varsity Football team dominated previously undefeated Graham with a 42–0 shutout at home. London’s playmakers lit up the scoreboard, with Daquanne Parks running for three touchdowns, Kyler Russell adding two—including a highlight pick-six—and Bryston Toronto scoring once to cap off the rout. The varsity team now improves to 5-0 as they continue another great season. The JV Football team kept the momentum rolling on September 20, defeating Graham 40–22 on the road.
