London High School Shines with Strong Performance on Ohio Report Card: 4.5-Star Rating

London High School has recently earned an impressive 4.5-star rating on the Ohio Department of Education’s 2024 Report Card. In a three-county area (Clark, Champaign, and Madison County), London High School was one of three high schools with a 4.5-star rating or higher. London High School is the highest-rated high school in Madison County. This rating reflects the school’s dedication to academic excellence, student growth, and overall success, positioning it as one of the standout high schools in the region.

Key Highlights from the Ohio Report Card

The Ohio Report Card is designed to provide transparency and insight into a school's performance in several key areas, offering a snapshot of how well schools are preparing students for success. London High School’s 4.5-star rating indicates an outstanding level of achievement across multiple categories. Here are some key highlights from their performance:

1. Achievement

London High School’s achievement score reflects students’ performance on state tests. The school's ability to consistently exceed state standards speaks to the rigorous instruction and dedication from both educators and students. A high percentage of students scored proficient or better in core subject areas like math, English, and science, demonstrating a strong foundation for college and career readiness.

2. Progress

The progress component measures the academic growth of students from year to year. London High School has shown significant improvement in this area, indicating that students are making above-average strides in their learning. This progress score underscores the school's commitment to ensuring that every student, regardless of their starting point, is given the tools they need to succeed.

3. Graduation Rate

A critical indicator of school performance is the graduation rate, and London High School continues to excel in this area. With a graduation rate well above the state average, the school has demonstrated its focus on not only educating students but also guiding them to the successful completion of their high school careers.

4. Gap Closing

London High School has made significant strides in closing educational gaps among diverse student populations. This component looks at the performance of different student groups, including those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds or with disabilities. The school’s high score in this category highlights its commitment to equity and inclusion, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed.

5. College, Career, Workforce, and Military Readiness

Preparing students for life beyond high school is a major priority for London High School. The Ohio Report Card’s readiness component looks at how well schools are preparing students for their next steps, whether that be college, a career, or military service. London High School's strong performance in this area indicates that graduates leave with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in their chosen paths.

Looking Ahead

While the 4.5-star rating is an outstanding accomplishment, London High School remains committed to continual improvement. With a focus on academic innovation, student well-being, and community engagement, the school is poised to maintain its status as a leading institution in Ohio education.

Dear High School Student Families,

It is the second evening of Parent Teacher Conference. If you would like to schedule a meeting, please use the image below to schedule your conferences.

School fees were listed on the most recent interim reports. If you believe that your fees are an error, you may need to update your student's free/reduced lunch forms. I

Thank you to all who are dropping their students off at the fire lane, it helps with traffic flow. Here are a few reminders as we start back up:

  • School doors open at 7:00.

  • Students will be released to their first period at 7:10.

  • Class starts at 7:20. Students arriving at their classroom after 7:20 need to report to the office for a late pass.

  • Students are expected to remove their hats, hoods, AirPods, or other headphone device, and put phones away as they enter the building.

  • If driving students and dropping them off, please use the loop and drop off students on the fire lane side for building entry. Please help us keep from having a line that backs up onto Elm.

  • Students who are driving are expected to be licensed and use the student parking spots. Information for parking passes is now available in the office.

School fees are listed on the students' report cards. Some of these fees have accumulated since elementary school or include pay-to-participate. These can be paid online through PaySchools (there is a convenience fee) or checks can be sent to London High School. (These are printed on the grade cards that are mailed home and viewable by selecting "View Paper Report Card.") The amount posted is the accumulated amount from the last time fees have been paid.

Healthcare

Welcome Back! Important Health Information for the Upcoming School Year

As we begin the new school year, here are some key health reminders:

Vision and Hearing Screenings:
Throughout the school year, students in grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 will undergo vision and hearing screenings. If your child is already under the care of a specialist or you prefer they not be tested, please inform their teacher (k-5) or school nurse. Additional details can be found in the attached information.

Immunization Records:
For students in Kindergarten, 7th, and 12th grades, it is crucial that you submit your child's immunization record to their school immediately to ensure they are not excluded from attending.

- Kindergarteners must have had a physical within the past year, and you need to submit the paperwork along with an updated immunization record or exemption form.
- 7th graders need an updated immunization record, including meningococcal and Tdap vaccines unless you have an exemption.
- 12th graders are required to have an updated immunization record that includes the meningococcal vaccine, unless exempted.

Extra Clothing for Elementary Students:
For our younger students, please send an extra set of clothing to be kept in their lockers in case of accidents, spills, or playground mishaps. This can help prevent interruptions during your day if a change of clothing is needed.

Medical Needs:
If your child has any medical conditions or needs, please contact the school's health staff to ensure they are aware of all necessary information.

For any questions or concerns, please reach out to our health team:

- Elizabeth Kennell, District RN: 740-852-5700 ext. 1067
- Monica Surrell, LPN (LMS): ext. 3073
- Baylee Semler, Nurse Aide (LHS): ext. 4055

Langham

Hello parents! As we head into October, I want to take a moment to go over some important safety reminders.

To ensure the safety of our students and staff, it’s essential that we all continue to follow the designated pick-up and drop-off procedures at each school. Please keep in mind that the school zone speed limit on Elm and Keny is 20 mph, and this is strictly enforced. Once on campus, the speed limit is reduced to 15 mph.

A big thank you to those of you at the elementary school who are following the drop-off procedures. However, we’ve noticed some drivers beginning to drop off in front of the building. Please take the extra time to use the designated drop-off area to ensure everyone's safety.

Thank you all for your ongoing support in helping to create a safe and positive learning environment for our students. Your efforts truly make a difference!
