Dear LHS Families,
Welcome to November as the leaves start to change and the air becomes a little crisper. There have been many things to celebrate as a London Red Raider this past week. The London FFA Chapter received its Three-Star Rating recognition at the National FFA Convention, and Emily Mathews received her American FFA Degree. The Volleyball team finished their season as Regional Runnerup, and Cameron Carn finished 68th at the State Cross Country Meet. The London Red Raiders Football team is back in action on November 7th.
There is No School for students on November 4th. Please also Save A Date between December 11-13, to come see "A Texas Carol" put on by our students in the Joyce Hildebrand Auditorium.
The counselors will be asking students for information regarding driver's licenses; CPR certifications done for lifeguarding, babysitting or other Red Cross approved; and other certifications they may have received for training at their work place. These items can assist students in showing their readiness and can qualify for the Industry Credential seal.

At London City Schools, student safety is always our top priority—especially when it comes to bus transportation. Riding the bus is a privilege, and by working together, we can make every trip safe and enjoyable for all students.
Key Bus Safety Rules
To help reinforce safe habits, please remind your child about these important expectations:
Stay Seated While the Bus Is Moving Children should remain in their seats to avoid injury and to keep the driver’s focus on the road.
Use a Quiet Voice Talking is allowed, but loud noises can distract the driver. Encourage your child to use a calm, quiet voice.
Keep the Bus Clean
Trash and clutter create safety hazards. Students are expected to respect the bus environment and pick up after themselves.
No Eating, Drinking, or Gum Food and drinks can cause spills, choking risks, or sticky messes. These items are not permitted during bus rides.
Always Listen to the Bus Driver
The driver’s instructions are for the safety of all passengers. Reinforcing respect for this authority helps ensure a smooth ride.
Sincerely, London City Schools Transportation Department

Supporting Your Child’s Regular School Attendance Here are some steps you can take to help your child attend school consistently and stay engaged in their learning:
Celebrate the importance of daily learning. Talk with your child about how showing up every day helps them grow, learn, and stay connected. Infuse joy and curiosity into their learning experiences!
Remember—excused and unexcused absences both add up. Whether your child misses school due to illness, appointments, or other reasons, each absence means lost learning time. Help them understand the value of being present whenever possible.
Stay in touch with your child’s teacher. If your child is facing challenges that make it hard to attend or engage, reach out early. Together, you can identify supports to help keep them on track.
Stay informed about your child’s learning tools. Know how to access their attendance records, assignments, and grades. If you need assistance navigating these platforms, don’t hesitate to contact your child’s school office or classroom teacher.
|
Students, to stay safe when riding the bus, remember these important tips:
-Arrive at the bus stop early and stand a safe distance away from the curb.
-Always wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before boarding or exiting. -Never walk behind the bus. If you need to cross in front of it, make sure the driver can see you, and you can see the driver. -Stay seated while the bus is moving, and always follow the driver’s instructions.
By following these guidelines, we can ensure a safe ride to and from school every day!

Winter Weather & Health Reminders
As the weather gets colder, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately. Students are outside for both bus stops and recess, so be sure they have a warm coat, socks, and proper footwear each day.
Medication at School If your child requires medication during the school day, a licensed prescriber’s order is required—this includes cough drops and topical ointments.
Please remember:
Students should not transport medication to school unless it is an inhaler, diabetic supplies, or an EpiPen.
All other medications must be brought in by a parent or guardian.
Cold & Flu Season Guidelines With cold and flu season upon us, please keep your child home if they are experiencing:
To help avoid illness, please remind your child to wash their hands frequently.
Thank you for helping us keep our students healthy and safe this winter!
