Principal Message

Dear LHS Families,

It's interim week, which means we are at the halfway point of the quarter. Please continue to help your student to do their work and complete assignments by the time they are due. Juniors and Seniors are invited to participate in a program known as Think Fast. Think Fast is a game show-type program to assist with sharing safety tips. There is an opportunity to win prizes. We hope all Juniors and Seniors will make themselves available to participate in this program. We also have a Senior Parent Meeting on Wednesday to review items for Senior year.

If you are a parent drop-off, please help the flow of the line by either dropping students off by the curb or at the circle by the tennis courts.

If you haven't done so, please take a few moments to log into FinalForms and complete or update your student’s information. This process ensures we have accurate emergency contacts, medical details, and activity participation forms on file for the year. We also ask that you take a few minutes to complete our 2025–2026 Planning Survey, which helps us better understand how we can support your student and family throughout the year. Your input is valued and important to our continuous improvement.

Here’s to a great week!

Riding the Bus with Kindness and Respect

At London City Schools, we believe kindness matters everywhere—including on the bus! A safe and positive bus environment makes the ride better for every student.

We encourage all students to:

  • Respect Others – Use polite words and treat bus drivers, staff, and classmates with kindness.

  • Follow the Driver’s Directions – Listening carefully helps keep everyone safe.

  • Look Out for One Another – Offer a seat, lend a hand to younger riders, and show respect.

  • Keep the Bus Clean – Dispose of trash properly and help take care of the bus.

  • Report Concerns – If you see misconduct, let an adult know right away.

By working together, we can make every bus ride a positive experience for all. Thank you for supporting safe and respectful transportation in our district!

Safety

Safety Tips for Drivers:

  • Phones Down—It’s the Law: Avoid distractions by keeping your phone down while driving. In Ohio, you can be pulled over for distracted driving.

  • Slow Down: Visibility is lower in the early morning and evening hours. Reduce your speed to spot pedestrians more easily.

  • Yield to Pedestrians: Always yield to people walking at intersections and crosswalks, whether they are marked or unmarked.

  • Don’t Pass Stopped Vehicles at Crosswalks: If a vehicle is stopped at a crosswalk, they may be yielding to a pedestrian. Don’t pass them.

  • Look for Pedestrians When Turning: Always check for people walking before making a turn.

Stay alert and prioritize safety on the road!

Red Raiders Shine in Packed Week of Fall Sports Action

By Brylee Huff and Gabrielle Nugeness | August 31, 2025

It was a busy and exciting week for the London High School Red Raiders, as teams across the board hit the courts, fields, and fairways to continue their fall seasons. From dominant football performances to hard-fought volleyball victories, Raider athletes showed resilience, teamwork, and plenty of Raider pride.

Volleyball Stands Tall
The Red Raiders’ volleyball program had a full slate of action, and each level made its mark.

The Freshmen Girls Volleyball squad set the tone on Monday, August 25, with a thrilling 2–1 victory over Circleville on their home court. The JV team kept the momentum going, winning both of their sets to sweep the Tigers. In varsity play, however, the Raiders fell short, dropping the match 1–3 despite a strong fight in the opening set.

Two nights later, the freshmen took the road to Madison Plains and played a competitive contest, ultimately coming up short. The quick turnaround didn’t seem to faze them, though, as all three Raider squads came out strong on Thursday against Shawnee. The Freshmen, JV, and Varsity teams convincingly swept their opponents, sending the Raider crowd home happy with three straight victories.

The week concluded with a Saturday road trip for the Varsity Volleyball team, who suffered a tough defeat at Logan Elm. Despite the loss, the Raiders’ volleyball program is optimistic about proving they’ll be a force in the Central Buckeye Conference this fall.

Soccer Sees Mixed Results
On the pitch, the Raiders experienced both challenges and highlights.

The Varsity Girls Soccer team traveled to Urbana on August 25, battling hard but ultimately falling to the Hillclimbers. The Varsity Boys Soccer team also came up short that night, dropping a 1–4 decision to Urbana. Freshman striker Chase Daugherty provided the lone spark for London with a goal in the second half.

Later in the week, the JV Boys Soccer team gave Raider fans something to cheer about, defeating Miami Trace 2–0 at home on Wednesday. Freshman Drew Lemons netted one of the goals, while a teammate added the second, showcasing the team’s young talent. On Saturday, the Varsity Girls faced Buckeye Valley and fought hard despite a short-handed roster. Though the result didn’t go their way, the effort and determination earned praise from coaches and teammates alike.

Golf Swings Back Strong
The boys’ golf teams had a tough start to the week against Jonathan Alder, with both JV and Varsity squads falling in their home match. However, the Varsity Raiders bounced back on Thursday in a big way, defeating Bellefontaine by ten strokes, 172–182. Senior standout Jacob Porter led the charge, earning medalist honors with an impressive round of 39

Tennis Battles on the Road
The Varsity Girls Tennis team made the trip to Canal Winchester on Wednesday evening. Despite strong individual efforts across the lineup, the Raiders came up short. The team remains focused on growth and improvement as the season continues.

The big news for our Varsity Girls Tennis team this week comes on Tuesday, 9/2, as they host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their brand-new tennis courts!

Red Raider Football - Friday Night Lights Bring Fireworks
The highlight of the week came on the gridiron, where the Varsity Football team delivered a statement win in front of a packed house at Bowlus Field. The Raiders rolled to a 53–14 victory over Chillicothe on Friday night, showcasing a high-powered offense and stingy defense that had fans on their feet from start to finish. With the win, the Red Raiders Varsity Football improved to 2-0 on the season as they look to defend their conference title.

Not to be outdone, the JV Football team carried that energy into Saturday’s road matchup, handling business with a 38–14 win over the Cavaliers. With both squads firing on all cylinders, Raider football has Raider Nation buzzing.

Looking Ahead
From the gym to the field to the fairways, London’s student-athletes left their mark this week. Volleyball continues to build momentum with statement wins, golf found its stride with a bounce-back performance, and football showed why the Red Raiders are among the teams to watch this season.

As September begins, Raider fans have plenty to be excited about — and even more to cheer for in the weeks ahead.
