Principal Message

Dear LHS Families,

It is Win and you are in! They did it again! Friday night, our London Red Raiders Football team got out blood pumping and hearts racing as they got the win in dramatic fashion when scoring the game-winning touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the game! The team is back in action on Friday night versus Tippecanoe at Fairborn for a chance to earn the title of Regional Champion.

Interims were released on Friday. Please review this with your student. Exams are right around the corner. Our attendance has taken a big hit this month, as the early part of the flu season. This is a reminder to practice good hygiene by washing hands regularly and getting plenty of sleep. Strong attendance leads to better grades!

Please also Save A Date between December 11-13, to come see "A Texas Carol" put on by our students in the Joyce Hildebrand Auditorium. Information about the show is listed below.

The counselors will be asking students for information regarding driver's licenses; CPR certifications done for lifeguarding, babysitting or other Red Cross approved; and other certifications they may have received for training at their work place. These items can assist students in showing their readiness and can qualify for the Industry Credential seal.

Here’s to a great week!

Principal, London High School
Go Red Raiders!

The Dinkel family arrives at Mee-Maw Jane’s East Texas ranch for what might be her last Christmas. When the first two grandchildren arrive, they discover that Mee-Maw is already gone! How to keep that fact (and her body) from a family on the edge and salvage what remains of Christmas? A Texas Carol is a hysterical and heart-warming take on all things Christmas and all things Texas! December 11-13, 2025 at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $10 adults and $8 students, cash sales at the door.

Driver's Education

Schwartz Driving School has opened a location in London. It is located at 167 West High Street. They have also provided vouchers to the school which gives students FREE classroom instruction. The driver's training is at a reduced rate through the voucher. These vouchers can be picked up from Mr. Rismiller. Families will need to call Schwartz Driving School at 614-882-4235 to enroll.

Transportation

At London City Schools, student safety is always our top priority—especially when it comes to bus transportation. Riding the bus is a privilege, and by working together, we can make every trip safe and enjoyable for all students.

Key Bus Safety Rules

To help reinforce safe habits, please remind your child about these important expectations:

  1. Stay Seated While the Bus Is Moving
Children should remain in their seats to avoid injury and to keep the driver’s focus on the road.

  2. Use a Quiet Voice
Talking is allowed, but loud noises can distract the driver. Encourage your child to use a calm, quiet voice.

  3. Keep the Bus Clean
Trash and clutter create safety hazards. Students are expected to respect the bus environment and pick up after themselves.

  4. No Eating, Drinking, or Gum
Food and drinks can cause spills, choking risks, or sticky messes. These items are not permitted during bus rides.

  5. Always Listen to the Bus Driver
The driver’s instructions are for the safety of all passengers. Reinforcing respect for this authority helps ensure a smooth ride.

Sincerely,
London City Schools Transportation Department

Stay In the Game

Attendance Matters: Every Absence Adds Up

Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% or more of total school hours, whether the absences are excused or unexcused. Every missed day counts, and even absences with valid reasons can add up quickly.

According to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, missing just 10% of school hours “can lead to younger students struggling with learning to read by third grade, decreased achievement in middle school, and difficulty graduating from high school.”

Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in a child’s academic success—because every day in school matters!

Safety

Parents, please take a moment to remind your child about the importance of never accepting food from strangers. While a treat might seem harmless, it’s always safest to say no if it’s offered by someone they don’t know. Encourage your child to politely decline any food given without your knowledge or consent. Following this simple rule helps keep all of our students safe and protected.

Winter Weather & Health Reminders
As the weather gets colder, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately. Students are outside for both bus stops and recess, so be sure they have a warm coat, socks, and proper footwear each day.

Medication at School
If your child requires medication during the school day, a licensed prescriber’s order is required—this includes cough drops and topical ointments.

Please remember:

  • Students should not transport medication to school unless it is an inhaler, diabetic supplies, or an EpiPen.

  • All other medications must be brought in by a parent or guardian.

Cold & Flu Season Guidelines
With cold and flu season upon us, please keep your child home if they are experiencing:

  • Vomiting or diarrhea

  • A fever

  • A persistent cough that would be disruptive in class

To help avoid illness, please remind your child to wash their hands frequently.

Thank you for helping us keep our students healthy and safe this winter!

London Stuns McNicholas with Last-Second Heroics, Advances in Playoffs

By: Brylee Huff and Jacey Peters

Friday night lights at Bowlus Field shone brighter than ever as the London Red Raiders battled Cincinnati Archbishop McNicholas in a thrilling OHSAA playoff matchup. The contest had everything — big hits, clutch plays, and a dramatic finish that sent Raider fans home ecstatic.

McNicholas jumped out to a 7–3 lead after the first quarter, but not before kicker Eli Noble gave London an early boost. From the right hash, Noble drilled a 35-yard field goal, then followed it with a booming touchback kickoff to pin the Rockets deep. McNicholas responded with a long quarterback sneak for a 50-yard touchdown to take the lead.

London regained momentum in the second quarter. Behind a powerful ground attack, Kyler Russell plunged into the end zone for a rushing touchdown, giving the Red Raiders a 10–7 lead at halftime.

Both defenses tightened in the third quarter, forcing punts and turnovers as the tension mounted. But as the fourth quarter began, McNicholas struck again — this time on a double reverse flea-flicker that fooled the London secondary and put the Rockets ahead 14–10.

With time running out and the season on the line, London’s offense showed its resilience. Quarterback Blake Reay led a poised final drive, capped off by a clutch touchdown pass to Brody Neal with just 38 seconds remaining, putting London back on top 17–14.

But the drama wasn’t over yet. McNicholas managed one final drive, setting up for a potential game-tying field goal in the closing seconds. The Red Raider defense came through in the biggest moment of the season — blocking the kick and sealing the 17–14 victory as the home crowd erupted in celebration.

The win advances London to the second round of the OHSAA state playoffs, where they will host Jackson High School on Friday, November 14th.

It was a night of grit, heart, and determination — the kind of playoff magic that defines November football in London.
